Get to Heaven Keep the Seven

Everybody wants spirituality. To be a good person means to walk in G-d's ways. How does that translate to reality? The only guidebook to spirituality that has stood the test of time is the Hebrew Bible. The Bible says that the Jews will be a light onto the nations. But if you are not a born Jew, you have to convert, which is not so easy!! If you do convert, it is a lot of work to be a Jew (three times a day prayer, keeping kosher, observing the Sabbath).

This blog will show you how to be Jewish without the work!!

What did Europe look like 1000 years ago, and 100 years ago

FAIR FIGHTING GROUND RULES:

Remain calm. Try not to overreact to difficult situations. By remaining calm others are more likely to consider your viewpoint.

Express feelings in words, not actions. Use words like, "I'm disappointed. I'm confused. I'm frustrated." If you feel so enraged that you fear you may lose control, take a "time out" and do something to help yourself feel calm: take a walk, do some deep breathing, write in your journal- whatever works for you.

Be specific about what is bothering you. Vague complaints are hard to work on.

Don't stockpile. Storing up lots of grievances and hurt feelings over time is counterproductive. It's almost impossible to deal with numerous old problems for which recollections may differ. Deal with only one issue at a time. Don't introduce other topics until each is fully discussed. This avoids the "kitchen sink" effect where people throw in all their complaints while not allowing anything to be resolved. E.g., if you're upset about the person not being on time, do NOT add in all the other ways the person has disappointed you. Stick to the time issue.

PERIODIS EXPLANATION

Periodis is a historical atlas of a new kind. We did not try to show the crucial historical moments but to outline the evolution of the European cultural area. Thus we have drawn with a regular frequency the countries of Europe over the centuries.

History by Periods
History is a continuous string of events among which prominent facts sometimes emerge: wars, conquests, revolutions etc. We can evaluate the influence of these important movements in the course of time, by comparing them to the normal periods, to the "control years" in some way. The Periodis historical Atlas, describes the political status of the European continent at fixed intervals. It therefore represents a list of reference points and permits an appreciation of the real range of important items on the continuation of political changes. Stress is put on the precise drawing of territories at one exact instant defined by an arbitrary periodicity, that is the first day of each centennial year. The notions taken into account are legal, literary or linguistic. We noted in English the names of the states as they are known, and we distinguished the sovereign states, the semi-independent entities, the 1st - when existent - and 2nd level administrative divisions. When information was insufficient, usual names of groups or federations of populations only are indicated. The place-names are usually mentioned in local language but, sometimes, alternative forms are used too, in order to allow easier research.

Names
Names of entities mentioned in the Periodis Historical Atlas are those officially used at the considered time. When the latter are not known or when sources are contradictory, we have applied the names mentionned by sources close to the depicted region and to the century of the map. In cases where such information isn't available, a short circumlocution names such an entity. For nomad populations, we have used the names by which those peoples were commonly described in the 20th century.

From the Desk of Victor Sharpe:

Here's something for Quakers to ponder as they disgracefully boycott Israel, the only nation state in the Middle East that both protects and respects its growing Christian population.

Unlike the twin horrors of the PA and Hamas, Israel is a nation of laws which protects all its citizens, be they Jewish, Christian and Muslim. In the PA and Hamas, gays and atheists are executed horribly and Christians are too often persecuted or worse. In Israel all are free to express their views openly and without fear.

And yet Quakers in Britain boycott the Jewish state?

The UN, the "State of Palestine" and its Torture of Women

by Khaled Abu Toameh  •  January 15, 2019

  • This is the kind of story that the "State of Palestine" does not intend to raise during its chairmanship of the largest bloc of developing countries at the UN. It seems that, from the point of view of the Palestinian Authority leadership, Jbara's ordeal does not fall within the category of human rights.
  • Jbara's story has barely attracted the attention of the international mainstream media or of so-called Human Rights groups. As far as many foreign journalists covering the Middle East are concerned, a Palestinian woman complaining about torture in a Palestinian prison is not newsworthy. Had she been detained by Israel for committing anti-Jewish terrorist activities, Jbara would have most likely made it to the front pages of the world's leading newspapers and magazines in a matter of minutes.
  • The PA regularly complains about alleged human rights violations of Palestinians held in Israeli prison for terrorist-related offenses. But when the PA's own security forces detain and torture a mother of three, Palestinian leaders are found elsewhere -- like at the helm of a UN bloc.

The Palestinian Authority's recent arrest and torture of a Palestinian

mother of three is the kind of story that the fraudulent "State of Palestine" does not intend

to raise during its chairmanship of the largest bloc of developing countries

at the UN. Pictured: Palestinian Authority's, Mahmoud Abbas,

According to Saleh Higazi, Deputy Director for the Middle East and North Africa at Amnesty International:

A Palestinian mother of three has accused the Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces of torturing her and threatening to rape her during the two months she was held in a PA prison in the West Bank.

The accusation by the woman, Suha Jbara, 31, came on the eve of PA President Mahmoud Abbas's visit to New York, where he is scheduled to assume the chairmanship of the largest bloc of developing countries in the United Nations, known as the "Group of 77 and China."

As chairman of the group, which represents 134 nations, Abbas and the "State of Palestine" will negotiate and co-sponsor proposals and amendments on various developmental, humanitarian and legal issues that are on the agenda of the UN

On January 11, Jbara, who was released last week from detention, held a press conference in Ramallah in which she detailed the various methods of torture she experienced at the hands of her Palestinian interrogators. Her horrific experience, however, does not seem to be on the agenda of the UN or the Group of 77 and China, headed by Abbas. Apparently, the UN group's members, who voted in favor of naming the "State of Palestine" as chairman of the group, do not care much about the human rights record of the PA security forces in the West Bank.

Jbara, a dual citizen of the US and Panama, was arrested by the Palestinian Authority security forces in early November 2018 at her home near the West Bank city of Ramallah. According to Jbara, she was accused of "illegally collecting donations" for families of Palestinians killed or wounded during clashes with the Israeli army.

Bizarrely, the PA is accusing Jbara of something that  the PA itself has done for years and is still doing: paying salaries to Palestinians in Israeli prison and the families of Palestinians killed while carrying out atrocities on Israeli civilians. According to Jbara, her interrogators also accused her of "collaborating" with Israel. During her detention, she went on hunger strike for 27 days.

The torture, according to Jbara, included pouring cold water on her face, solitary confinement for several days, strip-search, sleep deprivation, lengthy hours of interrogation and verbal abuse.

"The first stages were the worst," Jbara told the Palestinian Wattan TV station.

"They interrogated me for several hours, without taking into consideration that I felt sick. They moved me from one office to another. I saw a number of Arab detainees who were blindfolded and handcuffed. The interrogators were pouring cold water on their faces and some of the detainees were lying on the floor. It was a horrifying experience for me."

Jbara also said that the Palestinian interrogators threatened to take her three children away from her. "They used my children to blackmail me," she reported. The interrogators apparently also threatened her mother, her sisters and her with sexual assault. "I'm now in a very bad health condition," she said. "I even have difficulty walking."

Last month, a representative of Amnesty International met with Jbara, while she was still being held in Palestinian detention, and heard about her brutal treatment at the hands of her interrogators. "The Palestinian authorities must urgently investigate the torture and ill-treatment of Suha Jbara, an activist who has told Amnesty International that she was beaten, slammed against a wall and threatened with sexual violence by her interrogators," the organization  wrote.

According to Amnesty's report, Jbara described how, upon her arrest, she had a seizure, lost consciousness. Armed security officials later dragged her barefoot, out of a hospital, and transferred her to the Jericho Central Prison.

There, when she asked for a drink, a male interrogator threw water in her face, slapped her, punched her in the chest and back, and threatened her with further violence. She was blindfolded and handcuffed throughout her interrogation, and was not allowed to drink water or use the lavatory.

Actually, Palestinian leaders can rest easy concerning their torture of fellow Palestinian Arabs. By being selected to head the bloc of developing countries, Abbas and the leaders of the "State of Palestine" will be in the company of countries rewarded for human rights violations -- including Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iraq, Venezuela and Yemen -- just elected as the vice-president of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, despite  Yemen being ranked "as the worst country in the world on gender inequality (149th out of 149)" -- as well as several countries in Africa and Asia. That group exemplifies the old saying: birds of a feather flock together -- and these birds are definitely of the predator type

New PA 'Catastrophe': A Shopping Mall Hiring Palestinians:

PA President Mahmoud Abbas's ruling Fatah faction is angry. It seems a Jewish Israeli businessman has just built a shopping mall in Jerusalem, Israel, and most of its workers and customers are Arabs.

Fatah leaders have called for boycotting the mall.

Fatah, which is often described in the Western media as a moderate faction, has responded to the mall enterprise in a manner that showcases how Palestinian leaders continue to torpedo benefits to their fellow Arabs.

Where in the world would any leader condemn a project that provides jobs to hundreds of his or her people? Where in the world would any leader call on his or her people to boycott a shopping mall or a supermarket that offers competitive prices for clothes and food? Where in the world would a leader describe the opening of a commercial project that benefits his or her people as a catastrophe?

Needless to say the Israeli Arabs are treating this boycott with the contempt it deserves.

For all Jewish Democrats and supporters: Wake up before its too late

STAND FAST AND SEE THE SALVATION OF HASHEM

The power of tje Torah Portion of Bshalach challenges description. It is not simply what happened to our ancestors, but it reflects our situation today.

The sea was in front and Egypt was behind. The Children of Israel were in a state of panic. "Egypt pursued them, encamped by the sea – all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen and army …. Pharaoh approached. The Children of Israel raised their eyes, and behold! Egypt was journeying after them and they were very frightened. The children of Israel … said to Moses, 'Were there no graves in Egypt?'" (Exodus 14:9ff)

They wanted to go back to Egypt!

My friends, if this does not describe our situation today, I do not know what does.

We are totally surrounded. There is no place to go.

Our enemies, inside and outside Israel, are every day strengthening themselves. "Like rivers [our enemies have] raised their voice. Like rivers they shall raise their destructiveness …." (Psalm 93 with Artscroll Siddur commentary)

Every day we are losing more of our mighty towers of strength, our great rabbis.

Governments in countries that were once considered our friends are turning against us. They are trying to close down the yeshivos through which we pass on Torah to our future generations – in England, in Canada, in the United States! This is equivalent to trying to throw our babies into the Nile River, G-d forbid! They are trying to drown our children in the river of impurity!

Every day violence increases. War on a vast scale seems increasingly likely. I saw in a headline that Russia has developed a missile which is "impossible" to stop, a missile which flies so fast that it could cross the United States in a few minutes.

Moral standards which only a few years ago were accepted as normal, have completely crumbled and the world seems to be ruled by insane and violent people.

Indeed, we are today standing at the Red Sea. There is no safety! There is no peace! There is no security! There is no place to go!

This is the time to listen to the words of Moses!

"Do not fear! Stand fast and see the salvation of Hashem that He will perform for you today …. Hashem shall make war for you, and you shall remain silent!" (Exodus 14:13-14)

My friends, this is an amazing time in history. The Torah is guiding us toward the climax of history. Hashem is preparing us for Complete Redemption. This is the moment to hold on tightly to Hashem and His Torah and to unite among ourselves with love, to drop all animosity like a hot coal. The fate of the Children of Israel hinges on our love for each other. We are standing together on the shores of the Red Sea. The water is about to split, and soon we will cross. Our enemies will disappear. Yes, it will happen!

"And may those who devoured you be cast far off! Your G-d will rejoice over you like a groom rejoicing over his bride." (Lecha Dodi)

Hashem will once again give us the Torah, this time to keep forever!

"Do not fear! Stand fast and see the salvation of Hashem!"

Is Your Big Belly Really a "Swollen Colon?

Out, out, damn poop!"
— With apologies to William Shakespeare's

Macbeth (Act 5, Scene 1)

A medical study recently has confirmed what you may have always suspected: that most people are full of … well, poop.

In a study of autopsies, examiners found that 90% of the cadavers' colons held an average of 5 to 20 pounds of hardened, decayed feces which were encrusted in layers on the intestine walls.

Extrapolating this on the living population, it means that a staggering number of adults (including you) are walking around with a backed-up bowel that holds pounds of old, impacted feces that is protruding their bellies and secretly making them ill.

This was confirmed by a European medical study which found that a whopping 62% of adults whom doctors examined had an average of 10-12 pounds of residual fecal matter buildup in their large intestines and rectums.

Obviously, the majority of people today are not completely emptying their bowels of noxious waste products everyday as nature intended.

But when the doctors gave these poor people a treatment of a special all-natural colon-cleansing substance (not a laxative!), their bowel mass was reduced from 42% to 17%. This is an amazing reduction!

Not only were they able to completely empty their bowels, but this do-it-yourself treatment re-established their natural bowel rhythm so they remained "clean and regular" afterward.

In addition to much easier bowel movements, the patients reported feeling thinner, lighter, healthier and more energized.

See you tomorrow
