G-d's promise is not only a personal pledge to Jacob but is rather a guarantee to all of his descendants throughout the generations. The letter "ayin" in the word "e-ezavcha" (I will leave you) is written in such a way that it can be read in the opposite manner. The numerical value of the letter "ayin" is seventy, alluding to the return of Jacob's desendants to Eretz Yisrael following the seventy years of the Babylonian exile and from the seventy natio0ns to which they were exiled.
