Get to Heaven Keep the Seven

Everybody wants spirituality. To be a good person means to walk in G-d's ways. How does that translate to reality? The only guidebook to spirituality that has stood the test of time is the Hebrew Bible. The Bible says that the Jews will be a light onto the nations. But if you are not a born Jew, you have to convert, which is not so easy!! If you do convert, it is a lot of work to be a Jew (three times a day prayer, keeping kosher, observing the Sabbath).

This blog will show you how to be Jewish without the work!!

Live and Let Live

Happy people have a vast amount of things that they consider to be okay. We all have our limits. But we can develop attitudes and reactions that enable us to accept, tolerate, and ignore many of the things that annoy, irritate, and frustrate unhappy people.

Some people need things to be "just so" for them to feel comfortable and happy. The more rules and specifics that are needed for this, the more likely that a person will experience much unhappiness.

Are there any people you dread interacting with? Those with a low threshold of okay-ness are often in this category. They demand that everything has to be exactly as they wish it to be for them to be satisfied. These people are highly critical of others. They get annoyed at others for minor and trivial matters that are not to their liking. Don't be one of them for your own benefit and the welfare of those who interact with you.

Develop a sense of perspective. Keep asking yourself, "How important is this for me to fulfill my life's mission?" The clearer you are about which values are truly important to you, the easier it will be for you to accept and cope well with trivial and minor aspects of life that are not just the way you would have wanted them to be.

This is especially important when you live with another person. When you are by yourself, it is only yourself you have to please. When you live with another, you have to consider yourself as one person as the Torah teaches so that you make both of your lives more pleasant. This again why the Torah teaches that Husband and Wife become as one.

Yehuda and Avital Engaged

   MAZAL TOV!!!

           WITH GREAT HUMILITY, ENTHUSIASM AND

     HA'KARAT HA'TOV TO HA'KADOSH  BARUCH-HU

I AM HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE my engagement to Avital

We had a small engagement party on Iyar 6 (May 2)

Wedding details. Current plans are for June 23, which is a Friday, the last day of Sivan in Bloomfield park at 11:30 Am. The  chuppah will be on time (bli-neder) at 12 (not like a typical wedding so I need you there on time as it Friday and people need to get back for shabbat). Fleshich Buffet lunch to follow quickly so we should be done by 1:30-2:00 PM. I am open to suggestions for help and possible sheva brachat. I need  responses who will come so we can plan for amount of food, asap.

The directions to the wedding are as follows:

The King Salomon hotel's address is 32 King David Street. Directly and I mean directly across King David Street is an entrance to Bloomfield Park. There is a sign that says Water Closets and a  short (10 meters) stone path to a large fountain called the Whirl Fountain, because that is what it looks like. Walk just past the fountain and there is a beautiful small park overlooking the Old city Walls, and the parking lot of Yemin Moshe. G-d willing I will be there and if you get lost call my cell phone which a friend will have at 058-5043210. If you are driving you just park at the end of the Yemin Moshe parking lot (on the top) and walk to the end and walk up the narrow set of 10 stairs and we are there. The Parking lot is a city lot and you must pay.

It is completely accessible by bus and foot which is one reason why we choose it.

Please reply by May 15, even though it is June 23, so we can plan for caterer.

Joke of the Week: Arab Countries Would Give Security Guarantees to Israel

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said, "the Arab countries will be ready to give security guarantees to Israel," if Israel leaves the territories we liberated in 1967 (which includes the Kotel, of course), according to a report in Sputnik News.

Coming from Jordan, the country on the verge of collapse and takeover by ISIS, that's just a barrel of laughs.

Safadi doesn't say what those guarantees are.

Let's think about what they could be:

  1. All the Arab countries will disarm themselves.
  2. All the Arab countries will become peaceful democracies.
  3. Iran will give up its expansionist behavior, nuclear ambitions, and anti-Zionist theology.
  4. ISIS, Al-Qaida, Hezbollah and Hamas will disarm themselves and disband.
  5. Islam will become the religion of peace. (My personal favorite.)

I don't see any of those things happening.

Safadi added:

"We consider the settlement of the Palestinian problem as a core of tensions in our region. That is why we definitely plan to create additional conditions for security and stability in our region and in the whole world."

Considering ISIS, what's left of Iraq and Syria, Hezbollah's takeover of Lebanon, the Sunni-Shi'ite conflict, Islamic terror, the Iran-Saudi proxy war, Jordan on the verge of collapse, the PA on the verge of collapse, (and should we mention Morocco's illegal occupation of Western Sahara, and the absence of an independent Kurdish state?) — and none of those core Arabs/Middle East problems connected to Israel at all — how can they expect Israel to take any Arab peace advance seriously, when they make such stupid remarks that are so completely detached from reality?

International Threats 2017 - John Cleese

NEW - Alerts To Threats In 2017 Europe

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent events in Syria and have
therefore raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved." Soon, though, security
levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross." The English have
not been "A Bit Cross" since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies nearly ran out.

Terrorists have been re-categorized from "Tiresome" to "A Bloody Nuisance." The
last time the British issued a "Bloody Nuisance" warning level was in 1588, when
threatened by the Spanish Armada.

The Scots have raised their threat level from "Pissed Off" to "Let's get the Ba----rds."
They don't have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the front
line of the British army for the last 300 years.

The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level
from "Run" to "Hide." The only two higher levels in France are "Collaborate" and
"Surrender." The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France's white
flag factory, effectively paralyzing the country's military capability.

Italy has increased the alert level from "Shout Loudly and Excitedly" to "Elaborate
Military Posturing." Two more levels remain: "Ineffective Combat Operations" and
"Change Sides."

The Germans have increased their alert state from "Disdainful Arrogance" to "Dress
in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs." They also have two higher levels: "Invade a
Neighbour" and "Lose."

Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual; the only threat they are
worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels'.

The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These
beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a
really good look at the old Spanish navy.

Australia, meanwhile, has raised its security level from "No worries" to "She'll be
right, Mate." Two more escalation levels remain: "Crikey! I think we'll need to cancel
the barbie this weekend!" and "The barbie is cancelled." So far no situation has ever
warranted use of the last final escalation level.
