Get to Heaven Keep the Seven

Everybody wants spirituality. To be a good person means to walk in G-d's ways. How does that translate to reality? The only guidebook to spirituality that has stood the test of time is the Hebrew Bible. The Bible says that the Jews will be a light onto the nations. But if you are not a born Jew, you have to convert, which is not so easy!! If you do convert, it is a lot of work to be a Jew (three times a day prayer, keeping kosher, observing the Sabbath).

This blog will show you how to be Jewish without the work!!

Visiting The Ill

When you visit someone who is ill, you could be doing that person a great service: maybe even save that person's life. You can give hope and encouragement or help with practical matters, that they could not do on their own. You might be able to find out that this person needs the type of medical attention that he would not be able to receive on his own, or he might not have realized that he needed to do more than he is doing.

Go out of your way to find people who are ill, who would greatly appreciate your visit. If you cannot visit someone in person, call him up and wish him well, or write and let him know that you are thinking about him and care about his welfare.

Yesterday we visited a good man sitting in the hospital and cheered him up. What more good G-d want?

Speaking of following G-d next week I am doing a two day trip only as good spies not bad as we TOUR (from the spies word latour) the land of Israel. Come with me -call or email me --details below:

Participants are requested to offer a donation to each of our two yeshiva hosts who are sharing lunch with us and subsidizing the tour.
Minimal donation expected is 80 - 100 shekels.

(This total tour price  is  far less than that of any thing similar.)

We will travel up the Mediterranean coast to the famous archaeological /historic site of  Caesarea, the extravagant  and lavish  port city that King Herod built.
The excavations are world famous and extraordinary. We will see the dramatic multi media presentation as well.
Rabbi Akiva was martyred here and the first great revolt began here.

We continue to Old Akko.
We are invited to the Hesder yeshiva in Akko where we will join the students for lunch and hear about how the yeshiva and young kollel families are reviving Jewish Akko today as it is under relentless pressure from an encroaching Arab population
We shall visit the famous Ramchal shul in the old city;the only Jewish presence in the old city  there today.
We will marvel at the wall to wall, floor to ceiling, gorgeous mosaics in the three story Tunisian shul.
Nothing any where  like it in the world.

We cross the exquisite  Western  Galilee mountains and arrive at the very  beautiful, lush Kare Deshe guest house along  the shores of the magnificent  Kinneret. There  we shall have  dinner and spend the night.

Breakfast in the hotel.
We pack up and leave for the "Sapir Site" on the  Kinneret. This is where the famous National water carrier begins with its massive and well protected pumping facilities. We will have a tour of the site and learn about Israel - the world's  number one  water  power. The world literally drinks from our wells  of wisdom..

We proceed to Tiberius  where we shall visit the tomb of great Rabbi Akiva and the Ramchal and it's magnificent  over look  of the city and lake.

From Tiveria, we travel to Bet Shean where we will be hosted by the Hesder yeshiva there.
We will have lunch with the students and learn about life in this isolated  development town. High unemployment, low educational achievements,  alienation, etc.. are why the yeshiva was established here. We will learn  about the challenges and the successes.

Finally, before heading back to Yerushalayim, we will pay a visit to beautiful Kibbutz Ein Hanatziv where we shall be treated to an explanation by a local expert/enthusiast  about the ancient synagogue mosaic floor discovered near by.
An entire passage from the Talmud is part of the mosaic. Hear it's unique story from one of the early pioneers of this religious kibbutz in the Bet Shean Valley.

We return to Yerushalaim via the beautiful Jordan valley and Judean Desert.

What are Spiritual Counselors?

Spiritual counselors help people along their path to spiritual growth. The objective can include finding a life purpose, overcoming obstacles, and putting pain and grief into perspective. The path doesn't look the same for everyone, so it's no surprise that there are spiritual counselors representing different concepts of spirituality, including Judaism,  Christianity and New Age belief systems. Like other counselors, spiritual counselors do a lot of listening. They may also employ other modalities.

Spiritual counseling is one of several career options that integrate religion or spirituality with psychosocial care and guidance. The term 'pastoral counselor' is often reserved for individuals who have been ordained as ministers and have also pursued graduate level education in counseling. This entails a lot of education -- and typically a doctoral degree. Several states license the pastoral counseling profession. This licensing is for ministers who receive payment for counseling services. Individuals who go this route are prepared to provide a full range of counseling services to individuals at all stages of life; they may even be qualified to treat serious mental illness.

The term spiritual counselor is sometimes used more broadly. Spiritual counselors may or may not have a graduate level education. Their scope of duty is general more limited. It may be more focused, however – focused on particular aspects of spiritual development.

Spiritual counseling and mental health counseling is not necessarily an either-or proposition. Some licensed counselors do seek additional training to incorporate spirituality and religion into their work, for example, teaching clients to use meditation as a strategy for rising to challenges.

Certification and licensing of spiritual counselors

It's important to note that counselors are subject to the laws of their own state. If an individual is licensed, methodologies employed must be within the allowable scope of duty. And if one isn't licensed? All states regulate the counseling profession. However, they may allow individuals from many backgrounds to perform some counseling-related duties provided they don't overstep their scope of duty use a job title that would mislead the public.

It is helpful to have formal education in a related field, be it health care, human services, religion, business or legal training. Being on a personal spiritual path is of course also important. There are many courses in spiritual counseling -- some online -- but it's important to be a cautious consumer.

Voluntary certifications are one way of documenting to the public that you have a high level of training and accountability. Spiritual counselors can seek certification through the American Institute of Health Care Professionals. You do have to have some prerequisites in place before you can seek certification, but there are multiple eligibility paths. Being an RN qualifies you; the same goes for a number of other health professions. Certification as an addiction counselor or stress management consultant is another pathway. Still another is having a bachelor's in psychology. If you work in a chaplain ministry under someone else's direction and guidance, you may also be eligible.

There is one track for spiritual counseling and another for spiritual counseling within a Religious framework. The Religious track includes concepts like providing spiritual mentoring and offering pastoral care to the dying. The general track includes chakras and energy.

This is how Muslims think.

By Dr. Arieh Eldad an M.D. at Hadassah Hospital in Israel

I was instrumental in establishing the "Israeli National Skin Bank", which
is the largest in the world. The National Skin Bank stores skin for every
day needs as well as for war time or mass casualty situations.

This skin bank is hosted at the Hadassah Ein Kerem University hospital in
Jerusalem where I was the Chairman of plastic surgery.

This is how I was asked to supply skin for an Arab woman from Gaza , who
was hospitalized in Soroka Hospital in Beersheva, after her family burned
her

Usually, such atrocities happen among Arab families when the women are
suspected of having an affair.

We supplied all the needed Homografts for her treatment She was
successfully treated by my friend and colleague, Prof. Lior Rosenberg and
discharged to return to Gaza .

She was invited for regular follow-up visits to the outpatient clinic in
Beersheva.

One day she was caught at a border crossing wearing a suicide belt.
She meant to explode herself in the outpatient clinic of the hospital where
they saved her life.

It seems that her family promised her that if she did that, they would
forgive her.

This is only one example of the war between Jews and Muslims in the Land of
Israel.  It is not a territorial conflict. This is a civilizational conflict, or rather a
war between civilization & barbarism.

Bibi (Netanyahu) gets it, Obama did not, but Trump does

I have never written before asking everyone to please forward onwards so
that as many as possible can understand radical Islam and what awaits
the world if it is not stopped.

The greatest road rage of all time

This happened during the week we read of the treachery of the spies--sound familiar?

Last week approximately 15 thousand Haredi Jews in Brooklyn demonstrated against recruitment to the IDF. The rally was held at Barclays Stadium in Brooklyn, New York, and was organized by one of the factions of the extremist Satmar Hasidic group. The rally was attended by members of other ultra-Orthodox communities as well.

"The purpose of the meeting today is to declare to all the Jews in our Holy Land - you are not alone," stated Grand Rebbe of the Satmar Hasidic group. "We, the brothers, know that there are thousands of Israelis who stand by you and want to take part in your devotion and in the work of Kiddush Hashem that you are doing...Arrests and persecution will not help. Nothing will break the power of holiness and the power of your devotion."
