Get to Heaven Keep the Seven

Everybody wants spirituality. To be a good person means to walk in G-d's ways. How does that translate to reality? The only guidebook to spirituality that has stood the test of time is the Hebrew Bible. The Bible says that the Jews will be a light onto the nations. But if you are not a born Jew, you have to convert, which is not so easy!! If you do convert, it is a lot of work to be a Jew (three times a day prayer, keeping kosher, observing the Sabbath).

This blog will show you how to be Jewish without the work!!

Have the Strength to be Flexible

Flexibility is a very important tool in interpersonal relations. If you are rigid in your demands, you might frequently get your way -- but you will not have many friends.

Learn to differentiate between what is important and what is not. Someone who feels he must always get his way is telling himself, "If I give in to others, it means I am weak."

The Torah attitude is that honoring others is what makes a person honored.

Rabbi Shmuley Boteach Attacks Cong. Ilhan Omar in WaPo Ad

"America's Rabbi" Shmuley Boteach pointed the finger at U.S. Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and accused her of blatant anti-Semitism in a public, full-page ad printed in Sunday's Washington Post just in time for this week's 2019 American-Israel Public Affairs Committee Policy Conference in Washington DC.

Boteach placed Omar's own anti-Semitic words alongside some of the most anti-Semitic tropes of all time together with a full-length photo of the freshman Congresswoman.

He brought along a copy of the attack ad to the AIPAC conference, waving it at anti-AIPAC demonstrators at the Washington Convention Center as they chanted "Shame on you!" at him.

Stalactite Cave Nature Reserve

Avshalom Cave (Hebrew: מערת אבשלום‎), also known as Soreq Cave (Arabic: مغارة سوريك‎, Mghar Suriq) or Stalactites Cave(Hebrew: מערת הנטיפים‎, Me'arat HaNetifim), is a 5,000 m2 cave on the western side of Mt. Ye'ela, in the Judean hills in Israel, unique for its dense concentration of stalactites and other cave formations.

The cave has been the focus of paleoclimate research, which allowed reconstruction of the region's semi-arid climate for the past 185,000 years.[1] According to the American geologist James Aronson, the Soreq Cave Nature Reserve is the Rosetta stone of climate history in the Eastern Mediterranean.[2]

Name[edit]

The cave is named after Avshalom Shoham, an Israeli soldier killed in the War of Attrition.

Location[edit]

Avshalom Cave is situated near Hartuv, 3 km east of Bet Shemesh, Israel.

Discovery[edit]

The cave was discovered accidentally in May 1968, while quarrying with explosives.

After its discovery, the location of the cave was kept a secret for several years for fear of damage to its natural treasures.

Tourism[edit]

The cave is now open to visitors, in the heart of the 67-dunam Avshalom Nature Reserve, declared in 1975.[3] In 2012, a new lighting system was installed to prevent the formation and growth of algae.[4]

Description[edit]

The cave is 83 m long, 60 m wide, and 15 m high.

The temperature and the humidity in the cave are constant year round.[3]

Some of the stalactites found in the cave are four meters long, and some have been dated as 300,000 years old. Some meet stalagmites to form stone pillars.[5

Tourist Rav-Kav bus-train cards now sold at airport

The tourist Rav-Kav card called Israel Pass will be sold at a special stand at Ben Gurion Airport's Terminal 3.

Rav-Kav smart travel cards are now on sale for tourists at Ben Gurion airport. Since the smart card travel reform has been introduced in Israel's major cities in recent months, tourists have found themselves in an awkward situation. Unable to buy cards when boarding buses, they have been either forced to buy more expensive individual tickets for each ride, or made hasty last minute purchases at bus or railway stations without really understanding the system.

The tourist Rav-Kav card called Israel Pass will be sold at a special stand at Ben Gurion Airport's Terminal 3. The anonymous pass (Israelis hold cards with their name, ID number and picture) can be loaded with a specific amount for inter-changeable travel on buses and trains. Alternatively tourists can buy daily or weekly cards for travel throughout the country, rather like oyster cards in London. The cards also provide a 20% discount on entrance fees to Israel Nature and Parks Authority sites, which include Masada, Caesarea and much more.

In the near future, the Israel Pass travel cards will also be available at major tourist sites and include discounts for additional tourist services including accommodation, restaurants and cafes.

Minister of Transport Yisrael Katz said that the Israel Pass is designed to make Israel's public transport more accessible for tourists.

Despite the improvement, Israel's public transport remains problematic for tourists with digital signs at bus stops and announcements on the buses in Hebrew only. Tourists are required to ask fellow passengers to tell them where the next bus is going to or when on the bus when they have reached their stop.

French pilot in Entebbe hijack dies aged 95

Pilot Michel Bacos was hailed for bravery for refusing to abandon Jewish hostages prior to legendary Israeli commando rescue operation.

A French pilot hailed for bravery during the hijacking drama targeting Jews on an Air France flight in 1976 has died aged 95, his son told AFP on Wednesday.

Michel Bacos was flying from Tel Aviv to Paris when Palestinian Arab and German terrorists hijacked the aircraft which was eventually flown to Entebbe in Uganda.

The former French Resistance fighter earned France's highest award, the Legion d'Honneur, for refusing to leave the plane and ordering his crew to remain with Jewish passengers who were separated from non-Jews.

He died in the south of France where he had been living with his wife for the last 30 years, their son Eric Bacos told AFP.

The hostages were eventually freed after six days by Israeli commandos, who launched a raid that has since been re-told in multiple documentaries and films as one of the most famous special-forces operations in history.

The commandos freed all but four of 105 hostages, with the loss of one Israeli soldier, Yonatan Netanyahu, the brother of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In an interview with Israel's Yediot Ahronot newspaper in 2016, Bacos said that as he flew the plane a German hijacker "sat behind me with his gun pointed at my head."

"Every time I tried to look in a different direction, he pressed the barrel of his gun against my neck."

On arrival in Uganda, the hijackers separated passengers with Jewish names from the rest.

"I told the Palestinians and the Germans: 'I'm responsible for all of the passengers and demand to be able to see all of them -- be they Israeli or not -- at any given moment.' I insisted, and the Germans agreed."

"As a former officer in the Free French Forces, I couldn't imagine leaving behind not even a single passenger."

Two weeks after the hijacking, Bacos was back at work and asked to fly to Israel "to see if I were still afraid."

That flight, he said, "went without a hitch."
