The famed arena was closely followed by the Louvre Museum in Paris, and the Vatican in Rome on the list of can't miss sites for travelers. By David Hellerman, World Israel News Hezbollah is now demanding that Israel "return" to Lebanon a Rosh HaNikra railway tunnel that has been closed since 1948. "Our sovereign rights lie in our decision to restore every inch of the occupied tunnel, without compromising our decision to restore our land and sea borders as well," said Ali Hamieh, the Hezbollah-allied caretaker Minister of Public Works on Monday. The 695-meter-long Rosh HaNikra Tunnel was dug by the British army between 1942-1944 as part of Haifa-Beirut-Tripoli line to speed up military traffic during World War II. Lebanon calls it the Naqoura Tunnel after a nearby Lebanese town. In February 1948, the Palmach blew up a nearby rail bridge to prevent Arab weapons shipments from Lebanon. Rebuilding the bridge was considered too expensive and irrelevant in the absence of peace with Lebanon, so Israel filled the tunnel with concrete. Hamieh associated the tunnel with Shebaa Farms, the Kfarshuba Hills and part of Israel's offshore gas fields, according to Asharq al-Awsat, a London-based Arab daily. Hezbollah's demand for the tunnel is viewed as an attempt to scuttle efforts to resolve the maritime border. The U.S. has been mediating talks to resolve the maritime border. Lebanon recently softened its demands on the Karish gas field, which lies in Israeli waters. However, Hezbollah sent a number of aerial drones towards that gas field in July in what appeared to be a show of force. The IDF downed the drones. Yoni Kempinski J  A bus with approximately 30 passengers veered off HIghway 1 and rolled off the road near the Anava Interchange. The bus hit the guardrail and tumbled into a ditch on the side of the road. Magen David Adom (MDA) reported that all the passengers were conscious, and some had light injuries. Firefighting teams evacuated the passengers, who were trapped inside the bus. The driver succeeded in escaping out the window. Thus far, four passengers in light condition have been evacuated to Assaf Harofeh Medical Center. The accident has caused congestion on Highway 1 towards Jerusalem, from the Daniel Interchange to the Anava Interchange. MDA paramedic Lipa Hirsch said, "We saw the bus lying on its side in a field on the side of the road. The driver escaped from the window and the passengers were sitting inside the bus. They were fully conscious and did not have visible injuries."1 According to United Hatzalah, more than 25 people sustained light injuries and required basic medical attention after the crash. United Hatzalah volunteer EMT Avi Press, who was one of the first responders at the scene, relayed, "Firefighters were active at the scene and extracted 38 people from the bus, some of whom were waiting in the area for a replacement bus and did not require medical attention." "Together with other volunteers from United Hatzalah from throughout the region, including an ambulance team, we treated 25 passengers from the bus who sustained light injuries." Traffic examiners have opened an investigation into the accident. Israel Scores 18 Medals in Science Olympiads, Ulpana Student Wins Gold in Physics Revital Walach, a 12th-grade student at the Rav Baharn Ulpana in Gedera, is the winner of the gold medal in physics at the 2022 International Science Olympiads. The Baharan Ulpana is a four-year boarding school for girls with about 480 students in grades 9 to 12. Rabbi Avraham HaCohen Baharan, who passed away in 1994, was a dedicated educator who believed in teaching every girl spiritually according to where she is at and trusting her completely. It's the stuff that wins gold medals. Or, as Revital put it: "I'm a geek and I'm proud." The Israeli national team won three gold medals this week at the International Science Olympiad. The participants, from ninth to twelfth grades, competed in four Olympics: physics, math, chemistry, and biology, against representatives from more than a hundred countries. In all, the Israelis won 18 medals, including three gold, eight silver, and seven bronze medals. The students trained for the competitions at Israeli universities as part of a joint venture between the Ministry of Education and the Center for Future Scientists. The physics team was trained at Ben Gurion University, and all its members won medals: one gold, two silver, and two bronze. Beyond winning the gold, Revital Walach recorded an extraordinary achievement when she defeated 369 participants from 74 countries and was ranked first in the field, to become the first Israeli student to win gold in physics.
