My 2000th blog on Mailerlite

Computer life, like life itself, keeps on Morphing and changing.

When I was in the business world I would write newsletters and hold seminars because that was an effective way to create new business

When I became a psychologist and a Rabbi my newsletters morphed into this blog.

I used to send them out on Google for free and the process kept changing. Finally, without warning, almost 7 years ago, Google decided if you send out multiple mailings (I send out to almost 2000 people daily), you must be a spammer and without notice, they shut me down and I had to figure out how to send them out again. A new business model was developed for mailing services, which would do the same thing that I would get for free before who would send out your mailing and it wouldn't be considered spam.

I happened on Maillite and today is my 2000th mailing with them, something that feels it should be marked which I am doing by adding this story to today's blog. I have had my ups and downs with Maillite but by and large, they get the job done with my help.

Here is my 2000th blog, I hope I can continue to do it until age 120

The Three Musketeers at the Kotel

The Three are Rabbi Yehuda Glick, famous temple mount activist, and former Israel Mk, and then Robert Weinger, the world's greatest shofar blower and seller of Shofars, and myself after we had gone to the 12 gates of the Temple Mount in 2020 to blow the shofar to ask G-d to heal the world from the Pandemic. It was a highlight to my experience in living in Israel and I put it on my blog each day to remember.

The articles that I include each day are those that I find interesting, so I feel you will find them interesting as well. I don't always agree with all the points of each article but found them interesting or important to share with you, my readers, and friends. It is cathartic for me to share my thoughts and frustrations with you about life in general and in Israel. As a Rabbi, I try to teach and share the Torah of the G-d of Israel as a modern Orthodox Rabbi. I never intend to offend anyone but sometimes people are offended and I apologize in advance for any mistakes. The most important psychological principle I have learned is that once someone's mind is made up, they don't want to be bothered with the facts, so, like Rabbi Akiva, I drip water (Torah is compared to water) on their made-up minds and hope that some of what I have share sinks in. A BEAUTIFUL SONG FOR A BEAUTIFUL CITY

This epic song is not just one of many beautiful songs about Jerusalem. It is THE song about Jerusalem. Every single Jew knows this song from somewhere in their life. More importantly, it conjures up all of the most hidden yearnings of the Jewish people for a rebuilt and beautiful Jerusalem.

What it really signifies is the age-old yearning for a deep connection between man and G-d via the local call that Jerusalem provides.

Almost everyone who prays to G-d at the Western Wall feels something stirring inside of themselves. That special feeling is one of the connection between G-d and the world.

Useless Nazi-Era Currency Issued To Jews

In a collection of World War II-era currency I acquired this week was a fine example of a Konversionkasse, 5 Reichsmark note, dated 1934 and issued by Nazi Germany. Beginning in 1934, all Jews who were able to emigrate from Germany were blocked from removing any major assets or funds. In lieu of their assets, they were issued "Konversionskasse," a sort of promissory note supposedly backed by the Reichsbank, but in general these were impossible to ever redeem. In 1933 most Jews were able to remove their assets when leaving Germany, by 1935 the conditions significantly worsened and at most 10 percent of the value was redeemable.

Aside from the Konversionkasse, German Jews from the early years of Nazi rule were attacked by various levies and taxes intended to impoverish them. In April 1938, an executive order forced Jews to declare all assets valued at over 5K Reichsmark. A 20 percent tax levy was then imposed on all Jewish-owned assets. In addition, on November 24 and December 3, 1938, a decree allowed the confiscation of Jewish property for the sake of war preparation. The later decree allowed confiscation of Jewish businesses at will. Jews were also forced to sell properties requested by the authorities at well-below market costs, paid for with the Konversionkasse, which were in effect worthless.
